Building the Babbage Analytical Engine
John Graham-Cumming, an author and fellow geek, is trying to raise £500,000 to build Charles Babbage’s Analytical Engine. Run entirely on steam power, the Babbage engine, was the first modern computer ever conceived. It was never built.
